Since the Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates (Amendment) Act 2025, heirs have two routes. Through NADRA's Succession Facilitation Units, an uncontested application typically takes 15–30 days. Through the civil court, it's typically 2–4 months uncontested, and can extend to 6–12 months if the application is contested.

A succession certificate covers movable assets — bank accounts, shares, securities. A letter of administration is needed for immovable property such as land or a house. Many families need both, and it's worth establishing which one actually applies to each asset before applying.

Not necessarily. Overseas heirs can often complete identity verification through Pakistani missions abroad or via power of attorney, so the whole family doesn't need to be physically present — we structure the application to minimise how much travel is actually required.
